These songs were written and recorded off and on from 2011 - 2014 and make up the soundtrack for Pillar, a video game coming to PS4. Some of the songs were written fresh for the game, while others are reworked versions of older songs I released in the past. I was in a unique position to work on the music while designing the game, so I put a lot of effort into making sure the music "speaks" with the game design. The album was almost entirely recorded by recording a playthrough of Pillar; because the game has a dynamic music system I was able to mix the album by playing the game a certain way.

I wanted the songs to feel very atmospheric, like you're walking through the dead of winter by yourself, a perfect place to meditate. Parts of the game have some intense puzzle solving, so it was important that I made music that was interesting by itself, but doesn't interfere with you while you're trying to think... pretty much the exact definition of ambient music Brian Eno describes.
